I’ve had this vintage dress on one pin board or another for years. I love almost everything about it. Those pleats are perfect and give such a nice tailored touch to the overall look.
I also love these little jackets that come with so many vintage dress patterns and I wanted that look for my pattern as well. I made sure that the bodice just peeked out under the pleated overlay to give the illusion of a jacket without the fuss of sewing a whole other piece.
Unlike the original inspiration, I chose to give my pattern a button back since I decided on an easy fit, but in keeping with the vintage vibe, I chose to use facings instead of a full lining.
Three Pleats to the Wind has a full gathered semicircle skirt to gives that vintage silhouette and balance out the pleated top. I think the little set in sleeves give the perfect touch to the dress.
